React: Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT

This album is a lot of things, but it's not "Bittersuite."

Similar to Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia, Billie Eilish’s WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? quickly became one of my favorite albums that carried me through the early days of the pandemic.

Likewise, I also had tickets to go see her in concert before the world shut down but managed to instead see her during the Happier Than Ever world tour. I wasn’t a huge fan of Happier Than Ever as an album. It had a few tracks that I liked but I didn’t vibe with it overall.

I’m hoping that her latest release brings me back.

So without further ado, here are my first reactions to Bilile Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT.

SKINNY

I love the overloaded guitar to kick things off. That distortion is very cool. Similarly, I love the bottomed out kick drum. It has a similar distortion effect added.

I can already hear the vocal maturity from Billie on this track. She has more control of her vocals and a lot more range compared to her last two album releases.
