Imma keep it 💯 with y’all. Short n’ Sweet is the first Sabrina Carpenter album I didn’t immediately fall in love with. And not only did I not fall head over heels for it, but it became an album where I would often skip a lot of the tracks when I’m doing a library shuffle.
For those who know me, that’s huge fucking news. Because before that album, I (probably annoyingly so), was easily one of the biggest Sabrina fans out there. Every single, every cover, every movie, TV show, and interview. It didn’t matter, I knew everything about her work.
I’m not making any promises yet, but I’m really hoping this new release brings me back into the fandom.
So, as always, without further ado, here’s my first reaction and full album review of Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend.
Manchild
I heard this track when it was first released, but don’t remember much of it. The way I listen to music nowadays means that it really hasn’t been played ever since it was released.
I do love that the album opens up with a voice note because after what I mentioned in the opener of this review? Oh boy, indeed.
I love how tight that snare, hi-hat, and kick drum are. That’s in stark contrast to the toms that come later in the track and that are spread out. Those give more of a spacious vibe, panning between the left and right channels.
